Sustainability begins where USED OIL is no longer viewed as USED OIL

Every product was meant to be used. As soon as the use of a product reaches its end, or the properties of a product no longer guarantee its original use, it usually becomes waste. When it comes to lubricants, it is called used oil. We call it origin. It is the source of our integrated value chain, which takes care of different types of used oil. We ensure that used oil finds its way into the circular process and is not used elsewhere or wasted. Our refining process is not only waste-free, it also enables us to close loops in a sustainable manner by producing guaranteed high-quality base oils that are required for lubricant production.

Nachhaltigkeit

How do we orientate ourselves?

We are guided by international standards, such as the internationally recognized Declaration of Human Rights of the United Nations, as well as the Labour and Social Standards of the International Labour Organization, as well as the principles of Ecological and Social Responsibility of the UN Global Compact. The nationally applicable laws in areas mentioned also apply to our actions. With our sustainable business model and future-oriented corporate policy, as well as the associated investments and measures, we also make our contribution to achieving the internationally recognized sustainability goals (known as Sustainable Development Goals).

Human rights, labour rights, social standards

We see the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Ranks as a fundamental maxim for all business activity. The rights described there cannot be disregarded or weakened. This applies to the actions of AVISTA OIL towards its employees, the employees among themselves, with their business partners, the business partners with their employees, and in dealing with society. In addition, the core labour standards of the International Labour Organization (ILO) are decisive for entrepreneurial activity. Concretely - but not conclusively - this means that AVISTA OIL internally (and equally demanding from its business partners)

  • Respects human dignity
  • Prohibits all forms of child labor, forced labor or human trafficking or modern slavery
  • Any form of discrimination based on race, skin color, religion (creed), gender, age, national origin (descent), disability, marital status or sexual orientation is prohibited
  • Express the right to freedom of association and collective bargaining
  • Adheres that compliance with the requirements for occupational safety and health protection is respected

Environmental and climate issues

Environmental and climate issues are particularly important to us, as our value creation cycle reflects the protection and careful use of natural resources. For this reason, we are committed to avoid waste where possible and to minimize it where it cannot be avoided or to recycle it. We ensure that this is continuously monitored and improved by introducing and maintaining suitable management systems for this. We demand from our business partners an equally careful use of resources and an environmentally friendly corporate policy.

Economic profitability & longevity

Being aware of the fact that entrepreneurial activity in the free market economy must create profitability and prosperity for the company, its employees and society, this element of sustainability plays just an as crucial role in corporate policy as the other elements. Entrepreneurial activity can only continue if profitability prevails, and in this context the company can exist in the long term. However, we do not consider this element to be more important than the other aspects. The company can only survive in the long term, if there is a balance between the five elements of sustainability. In this sense, it is necessary to develop profitability strategies that exist in harmony with the balance between the elements of sustainability.
